Our brief:
To provide the students with exposure to English language and culture with elements of English literature and history with a special emphasis on the works of William Shakespeare. To give them an opportunity to experience and minimise the effect of language and culture shock with the support of our EFL teachers and group activity leaders.

Our approach to programme design
To meet the requirements of our client we decided to focus the trip around drama workshops offered by Royal Shakespeare Company. To make the experience even more genuine, we incorporated a visit to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre to see “Julius Caesar”.
To compliment the literary experience, we planned a visit to Oxford Colleges and a guided tour around Oxford with a native speaker.

Day 1. Arrival

Private coach transfer from Bristol Airport to Grittleton House. Stop off on the way at the famous SS Great Britain steam ship for a guided tour.

Settle into the rooms before a tour of the magnificent Victorian manor house.

Evening program – Movie night in the cinema room

Day 2. Visiting Bath

After Breakfast, depart to Bath to visit the Roman Baths museum. After lunch, complete the Bath treasure hunt which takes you all over the city solving clues and asking the public – a great way to get students talking the language!

Evening program – Acting workshop in the Manor House

Day 3. Oxford immersion

A day visiting Oxford. Take a guided walking tour around some of the famous colleges including Christchurch and Corpus Christi and the Bodleian Library. Free time in the afternoon to explore the city and the many historical buildings.

Evening program – pub quiz in the local pub, the Neeld arms

Day 4. Shakespeare experience

A full day in Stratford Upon Avon for the Shakespeare experience. A “brush up on your Shakespeare” talk in the morning followed by a visit to his birthplace and museum. After lunch, Student will prepare for the evening performance with a 2 hour workshop before an evening performance of King Lear.

Day 5. Activities & Culture

A morning of British sports activities – cricket golf and rugby, run by professional instructors. After lunch, a walk around the beautiful Cotswold village of Castle Combe, film location to many Hollywood blockbusters!

Day 6. Return

Return flight from Bristol airport.
